Chiara Ojeda's Teaching Portfolio
I'm a superteacher on a mission. Here's my journey so far.
Hi. I'm Chiara, a superteacher on a mission...
From the moment I picked up J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, I began a journey as a lifelong learner whose passion for language, communication, and self-expression has spanned two languages, cultures, and perspectives. I spent my early days in Puerto Rico and am a proud member of both my Puertorican culture and American culture. As a now Central Florida native, I've lived, studied, and taught in the state for 26 years. I am blessed to have a loving family, wonderfully inspirational friends, a tender feline friend, and supportive partner.
My hobbies include devouring all genres of science fiction (with a bit of a dabble into horror), cooking, baking, designing, and blogging.
I am a guide. I love being a part of each step in a student's creative process, whether it is an essay, universal construction or "how to make silly putty" demonstration speech.
I am a designer. As if I haven't said it enough, I love design. Working on a deck, infographic, course asset, or lesson plan is my version of zen.
I am a supporter. I believe that supporting students beyond a class offers students the chance to see their learning in practice and is a chance for me to honor their efforts.
I am a coach. I've had the chance to help and motivate past students put their communications skills into practice towards an impressive final result. Go Team!
I am a fan. One of my monthly highlights is attending graduation, where I get to hug it out with and celebrate the work of my awesome students.
